Ragdool Cat | Usefull Informations

The ragdoll is listed with guinness records as the largest cat, with adult males ranging 12-20 pounds, and females averaging 10-15 pounds. They usually mature slowly into adulthood, taking sometimes a few years to reach full size and for the color markings to be complete. The Ragdoll coat is moderately long, with abundant guard hairs, shorter fur on front legs, longer on rear legs. Ragdolls are known as Siamese colored cats, as they have a combination of light and dark colors on their body. They are found in 6 colors namely cream, blue, chocolate, flame, lilac and seal. These colors mostly appear on the face, tail, feet and ears and are categorized into three patterns namely colorprint, mitted and bicolor. Usually, Ragdoll cats are born with a pale color and grow darker with age. The Ragdoll cat is characterized by big blue eyes which are oval in shape.

Regular grooming, with a suitable brush and comb, for all Ragdolls is essential to maintain a healthy, knot free coat. A Ragdoll who is not brushed regularly will develop knots, which if left will cause discomfort and sore skin. Grooming is a good way to bond with a new kitten and is important in maintaining a good relationship with an older cat. When grooming your Ragdoll pay particular attention to under the chin, around the back legs, the tummy and the armi pits, as this is where knots are most likely to develop.   The average lifespan of this breed of cat is around 12 to 15 years. However, with the advancement of veterinary medicine, pets have been known to live up to 20 years and even longer. The average weight for this breed of cat is around 10 to 20 lbs.

Ragdoll cats are a wonderful breed. They have such a gorgeous appearance and have such a sweet character that is trusting, loyal and loving. They are such a docile, relaxed and friendly cat breed that is adaptable with everyone or anyone. They just love to be held and carried and take pleasure in the time spent with their owner and thrive on it.
